I love discovering new bands,
that’s why I write this blog, but a fringe benefit of this writing lark is getting
to engage with bands that have so far passed me by. Alice In Chains are one
such band and I’m starting to regret letting them pass me by on the evidence of
this first new material for five years. ‘The One You Know’ is a sizeable slab
of rock with a crunching, relentless riff at it’s heart but the guile and
experience needed to put a an ear worm of a melody in to the chorus. I can’t
imagine that if you’re a rock fan then you’re not already in to Alice In Chains
but if you need to know where to slot this tune then alongside Foo Fighters,
Metallica and Soundgarden will do just nicely.
