BLACK FUTURES – SINGLE REVIEW

Black Futures – Riches (Music for Nations/Sony)

Black Futures - Riches
Release Date: Out Now

One of my favourite artists of 2017 are picking up where they left off in 2018 with another razor sharp single, their first for their new label Music for Nations. ‘Riches’ is a less abrasive piece than previous singles but the smooth beats and luxurious melodies in the verse are beaten in to submission by the NIN sized beats and bass of the chorus. As always, there’s a semi-military feel to the rhythm that makes you want to march on to the dance floor and then it’s all about fists in the air and singing along like some wonderfully weird mix of Nirvana, Rage Against the Machine and Chemical Brothers but with an underlying sense of the unrest that goes hand in hand with being alive in 2018. Black Futures really are the mirror to the modern world and it don’t look pretty – don’t break eye contact though, it’s important that you see this…
