These guys burst back on to the scene in 2017 and with an album due in April there’s no suggestion that there’s any chance of them letting up any time soon. New single ‘Lay It Down’ is just intended to keep us warm until the full LP drops but from the early bass notes you know this track means business. A beat that is somewhere in the region ‘Every Step You Take’ kicks in and then the sultry, cracked alt-pop vocals slide in to give this a sense of class. The range of percussion on this track is impressive and gives it the feel of a progressive 80s track but with those fresh vocals keeping this contemporary in the way Ladyhawke managed to such success. Great tune on it’s own but I can’t help but feel the surrounding album will give this track more context.
