RAFFER – SINGLE REVIEW

Raffer – Together/Only Grows
Raffer - Together/Only Grows

Release Date: 1st December 2017

South-East London lad Raffer (aka Callum Rafferty) has done me a favour by knocking out a single with a B-side which always puts a smile on my face. A-side ‘Together’ is a bang-tidy slice of indie-dance-pop with a killer little hook and the kind of bounce that makes festival crowds lose their shit and forget all about the day jobs. Raffer has a keen eye for a melody and this track could easily sit on any album alongside the likes of the Killers, the Kooks, the Pigeon Detectives or the Lightning Seeds without feeling remotely out of place. B-side ‘Only Grows’ is an entirely different affair but also, weirdly, perfectly fitting. Left-field synth loops, smooth indie-pop vocals and a satisfying bass pulse all combine with samples and loops to make a relaxing, almost cleansing track that borders on some kind of Michael Jackson mash up with Everything Everything while Alt-J fan themselves in the corner. Raffer is one 19-year-old with a heap of ideas and the talent to match so mark him down in your ones to watch in 2018 for sure.

Live Dates:
