JOANNA COOKE – SINGLE REVIEW

Joanna Cooke – Darker Days feat. Vince Lee
Joanna Cooke - Darker Days

Release Date: Out Now

I’m so, so glad that this track is getting a release of its own as it was absolutely the stand-out track on the talented Joanna Cooke’s recent EP. ‘Darker Days’ is a gloriously soulful, Motown and Gospel inspired tune with a Blues underbelly and a nice hint of funk – tempted? You should be. From the warm, inviting bed of piano notes and Cooke’s dusky, smooth voice to the perky, funky guitar notes of Nathan Austin and the passionate, hand-clapped rhythm, this track is perfectly weighted and authentic in every way. Now, throw in the deep, gravelly growl of Plymouth Bluesman Vince Lee just to provide the cherry to this particularly rich cake. My advice? Get yourself a big fork and get a big old helping of soul-food. It’s good for what ails you.
