PAUL DRAPER – SINGLE REVIEW

Paul Draper – Things People Want (KScope)
Paul Draper - Things People Want

Release Date: 11th August 2017

There has been something of a slow creep about Paul Draper’s renaissance as a solo artist but this latest single feels like he’s finally breaking through that glass wall of his former band. ‘Things People Want’ definitely has a Mansun-esque vibe about it with the dramatic, sweeping chorus and the multi-layered instrumentation that bleeds in and out without any warning or pattern. But what this release really does is give Draper’s voice a platform to show that he’s moved on to a more soulful, more mature tone that speaks of his experience and wisdom. Draper was always an arch story-teller, that was a natural teller, but now he has a voice worthy of those stories and more experiences to sing about in the dulcet tone.
