RYLANDS HEATH – SINGLE REVIEW

Rylands Heath – Best Friend
Rylands Heath - Best Friend

Release Date: Out Now

I have to admit that my expectations were low for this new tune from Luton duo Rylands Heath. Pleasingly, however, I was way wrong. ‘Best Friend’ is angular, jerky, indie-pop in the vein of Maximo Park, Young Knives and Futureheads which is already a great start but throw in the breathless vocals, 100mph energy and chorus hook that, well, hooks in and you’ve got the sound of the summer on your hands (and in your ears, for what it’s worth). This is a heartbreak and confusion song, perfect for those times when you’ve been dumped but you just can’t understand why. If you want cathartic, anthemic, fists in the air, sing-a-long indie-pop that makes you want to get in your car and go on a road trip to find adventure then you’ve come to the right place. You’re also pretty demanding so, you know, maybe just chill out a but, OK?
