EMBERS – SINGLE REVIEW

Embers – Signs
Embers - Signs

Releaes Date: 13th March 2017

When you read that a band is from Manchester, you tend to expect them to have gone down the Madchester route or the New Order route in terms of their geographical influence. It’s interesting, then, that Mancunian combo have opted for the less travelled path sound tracked by the mighty James. New single ‘Signs’ opens with a brooding piano riff that’s lifted up by some urgent drumming and a string synth sound that speaks of blue skies after the rain and second chances. There’s a spirituality here that is uplifting and soul enriching in a way that very few bands manage to harness and there’s also a stadium filling sound that even more bands fail to achieve through their whole career. I can hear hints of Elbow and Keane in this tune as well so I reckon Embers have a future in playing epic songs to sizeable audiences.
