FERAL KIZZY - SINGLE REVIEW

Feral Kizzy - Community Service (Elite Records)
Feral Kizzy - Community Service

Release Date: Out Now

I have to say, Feral Kizzy is one of the more imaginative and enticing band names I've come across in a while even if it does paint front woman Kizzy Kirk in a slightly unflattering light. This latest single/video from the Long Beach quintet, 'Community Service', starts with a cool, brooding riff that chugs restlessly in the shadows until Kizzy's vocals come in and suddenly the whole thing is given a Patti Smith, Yeah Yeah Yeahs or PJ Harvey vibe. The addition of a rumbling bass, biblical organs and well placed drums makes this an almighty sound that has as much bitterness as it has sweetness as it reels drunkenly through dark corridors looking, searching, yearning for something to satisfy the hunger. There is a beautifully shot video to accompany this tune and all in all it makes for an impressive release and, with an album to follow this year, the future looks good for Feral Kizzy.
