RANGLEKLODS - SINGLE REVIEW

Rangleklods - Schoolgirls (Tambourhinoceros)
Rangleklods - Schoolgirls

Release Date: Out Now

Still one of my favourite band names of all time, Rangleklods are back with a new single ahead of their forthcoming album. The dubiously titled 'Schoolgirls' is not something that I would recommend you go searching for on that internet but it is a dark, quietly menacing and slightly sleazy piece of woozy indie pop. As the singer channels a young Bobby Gillespie in the video interspersed with images of increasingly disturbing nature, the tone is of something between the a 80s goth-pop club classic and a modern piece of art-pop that would go down an absolute storm in some trendy pop up club in East London. The off kilter synths and raw beats are all very Swim Deep which is ace but there is a confidence and assuredness that puts the duo up a notch on other acts having a go at this style of music. Beautiful, edgy music but with a dark underside, just the way I like it.
