THE BANDICOOTS - SINGLE REVIEW

The Bandicoots - Just After Dark
The Bandicoots - Just After Dark

Hamilton boys The Bandicoots are the latest Canadian band to make their way over to my ear holes with their debut single 'Just After Dark'. From the word go you can tell that these guys have been listening to an awful lot of Arctic Monkeys material and possibly a bit of Gogol Bordello which makes for a catch and compelling mix. The slinky, swaggering guitars are full of greased back hair and gold jackets while the drums skip and flutter like a jazz percussionist having a go at punk. For a debut song this is pretty strong but there is more to come from these guys and my one word of advice would be that four minutes and thirty eight seconds is a little long for this style of song. Compelling stuff, though, and yet another Canadian band worth keeping an eye on.
