KATE HAVNEVIK - SINGLE REVIEW

Kate Havnevik - Micronation (Continentica Records)
Kate Havnevik - Micronation

Well, if this isn't nearly three minutes of utterly delightful, airy pop with an indie edge then I don't know what is! Kate Havnevik is a Norwegian singer-songwriter and her latest single, 'Micronation', is a gorgeous, sugary sweet blend of Kimbra, Feist, Katy Perry, Bat For Lashes and a whole load of late 80s/early 90s pop influences. The sliding, swooping string sounds are luscious while the bass line bounces along like a bumble bee with pockets full of nectar and only making honey on his mind. Havnevik's voice is smooth and classically in the pop style which makes this whole experience thoroughly pleasant and utterly uplifting.
