POST-APE - SINGLE REVIEW

Post-Ape - Limbs In The Dark
Post-Ape - Limbs In The Dark

I've just spent the last four minutes of my life watching a young lady having food poured all over her head from a great height. As much as I would like to pretend that this was a regular and slightly odd Monday night occurrence in the house of Monger, this is in fact the video for the new single from Post-Ape. There seems to have been a glut of solo acts performing under assumed names and Post-Ape is yet another although in this case I have no idea who the man/woman/ape behind the music actually is, which is fun. 'Limbs In The Dark' is a darkly retro sounding electronic slab of music with Gary Numan vocals slapped on top. The jerky melody is brought to life by the funky, Daft Punk-esque bassline and rhythm and I'm never quite sure whether the tune is in a major or minor key which makes the whole experience more arresting. Expect this tune to turn up in the dark corners of 6Music and possibly behind a trailer for some cool new show on Channel 4 in the very near future. Oh, and check out that music video, it's strangely compelling for the voyeur in all of us.
